Where Wearton is better
It works on your computer, not only your phone. Cladwell has no web app and no browser extension, and its FAQ says that “new account signup currently starts in the iPhone, iPad or Android app”. Wearton is a web app: sign up in your browser, and use your closet, Today, try-on and Hooky there. Its extension works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox.
Try on clothes from any shop before you buy. Cladwell’s See it on me shows an outfit from your closet on your photo. With the Wearton extension, you drag a picture from a shop page onto your own photo, or right-click it and choose “Try this on me”. Then save the piece to your wishlist with one click. The wishlist shows how well it suits your colors, how many of your clothes it goes with, and whether you already own something similar.
Every piece shows how well it suits you. Cladwell finds your color season and palette. Its pages do not say that each piece in your closet shows how well it matches them. Its stylist can tell you in a chat which pieces are in your palette. Wearton knows your color season (one of 12), your undertone and your palette of about eight colors, like the Soft Autumn palette. Every piece in your closet and on your wishlist shows how well it matches that palette, so you know before you wear a piece or buy it. In the phone app (coming soon), one selfie finds your season. On the web, you can pick your season by hand today.
It dresses you for how the weather feels. Cladwell plans daily outfits with your weather in mind too. Wearton uses the feels-like temperature, not just the number on the thermometer. Wind matters: in a 12 mph (20 km/h) wind, 60 degree weather (15.6 °C) can feel like 51 °F (10.6 °C). Tell Wearton how yesterday felt, and it learns whether you run warm or cold.
It shows what each piece costs you. Wearton divides the price of a piece by the times you wore it, so you see your best value pieces and the ones you never wear. Cladwell shows what you wear and what you don’t; its pages do not mention cost per wear.
Where Cladwell is better
- Phone apps you can install today, for iPhone, iPad and Android, and on Mac with Apple silicon and Apple Vision. They are rated 4.3 from about 1,000 ratings on the US App Store and 4.0 from about 500 reviews on Google Play. Cladwell says it has had over 1 million downloads since 2016. Wearton’s phone apps are coming soon.
- A whole outfit on your photo. See it on me shows a complete outfit from your closet on you. Wearton tries on one piece at a time.
- A season capsule and a shopping list. Cladwell builds a capsule of about 33 pieces, mostly ones you already own, with outfit formulas. Each missing piece becomes a shopping list item with 3 to 5 real products from the brands you choose, within your budget.
- A closet without photos. Pick your clothes from 15,000 cataloged pieces. Most people, Cladwell says, never take a single photo.
- Cladwell in ChatGPT, open to everyone: add clothes and, with a subscription, ask ChatGPT about your closet and colors. Wearton in ChatGPT is coming soon.
- A free closet and a free color quiz. Building and organizing your closet and logging what you wear are free. On its website, a three-question quiz finds your season with no account.
How to move from Cladwell to Wearton

- Add the pieces you wear most first. Take a photo of each, or open its product page in your browser and add it with the Wearton extension.

Can I move my closet from Cladwell to Wearton?
Yes, piece by piece. Cladwell’s pages do not describe an export that Wearton can read, so you add your clothes again: by photo, or from each piece’s shop page with the Wearton browser extension.
Does Cladwell have color analysis?
Yes. In the app, you answer three questions, or on iPhone and iPad you take one photo, and Cladwell finds your color season and palette. In the app it needs a subscription; the three-question quiz is also free on its website. Its pages do not say that your closet shows which pieces suit you. Its stylist can tell you in a chat which pieces are in your palette. Wearton finds your season, undertone and palette, and shows the color match of every piece in your closet and on your wishlist.
Does Cladwell have virtual try-on?
Yes. See it on me shows an outfit from your closet on a photo of you, in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps, with a subscription. Wearton shows one piece on your own photo, in the web app and the browser extension, from your closet or from any picture on a shop page, so you can try a piece before you buy it.
Does Cladwell plan outfits for the weather?
Yes. Its website says it gives “daily outfits from your own clothes, with your weather in mind”, with a subscription. Wearton picks an outfit of the day for the feels-like temperature, wind and rain, and learns from your answers whether you run warm or cold.
Is Cladwell free?
The closet is. Building and organizing your closet and logging what you wear are free. Outfits, See it on me, the season capsule, the shopping list, color analysis and the stylist need a subscription: $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year when you buy it on the web (USD), with no free trial there. App prices and trials may differ, and AI features have a monthly allowance. The Wearton phone app has a paid plan.
Can I use Cladwell on my computer?
Not as a web app. Cladwell runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, and its iPad app runs on a Mac with Apple silicon. You can also connect it to ChatGPT. Wearton works in your browser, as a web app and as an extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and you can sign up there. To see what to wear in your city right now, try the What to wear today tool. It needs no sign-up.
